Discover the Simple Ingredients to Successful Outsourcing in the Philippines

Have you tried outsourcing and failed?

Have you given up on outsourcing because you:

  • Hired a virtual assistant and it did not work out

  • Used a technical assistant for help with your website or social media and the communication was too hard

  • Engaged an article writer who did not understand your brief

  • Employed a graphics person who could not understand your simple instructions

  • Engaged a company that treated their staff badly

  • Engaged a company that simply did not produce the results you were looking for

When this happens it is so disappointing and frustrating.

The first reaction is to say that outsourcing does not work. “I have tried it and it failed.”

When I look deeper into the reasons outsourcing fails it is different from case to case.

Often you might be expecting one or more of the following:

  • That the person or company you hired already had the experience you were looking for.

  • That they would be reliable and easily available and contactable.

  • That their level of English was high to excellent and that they could write well.

  • That they would do a great job and the experience would be seamless.

  • That they would understand your business quickly and easily.

These are basic expectations that in business in the Western world we have come to trust and expect.

The following tips will help you succeed in engaging team members from the Philippines:

  • Commit to a full time team member or at the very least a permanent part time team member. As needed one off arrangements do not work.

  • Test their skills before you hire them. Become savvy at testing.

  • Train them in your business culture and the culture of your nationality.

  • Pay the team member well.

  • Dedicate time and effort to training. Become an excellent trainer. This is the foundation of your success.

  • Engage with your team member. Build a genuine relationship.

  • Continue to refine the training and skills of the person.

  • Give feedback and instill confidence.

  • Learn the names of your team member’s children, the date of their birthday and the main elements that make up their culture.

There is no magic wand when it comes to successful outsourcing.

If requires effort and training to get it right and continual engagement.

Training can be time consuming, but it is time spent that will set you free as a business owner.

When you become successful at outsourcing your business results will explode.
