Why Control Is A Love Hate Relationship In Business?
For those of you that have never met me, I am a business accountability strategist and coach.
What does this mean and what benefit does this offer you and your business?
And what does control have to do with it?
As a business accountability strategist I get the privilege of going behind the scenes to find out:
Who does your business serve and how does it do this?
What is your marketing strategy?
Do you have a financial forecast in place?
What are your operations and systems? Are they documented?
What is your vision, mission and top three goals?
Where you are now?
How much money do you you make?
How much money do you want to make and by when?
What does your motivation and focus look like?
What are you struggling with right now?
What opportunities are not being taken advantage of?
What are some threats to your business?
What are some strengths and weaknesses?
Is there any untapped potential?
My job is to create structure around growing the business through the implementation of intelligent plans, action steps, tracking and measuring and most importantly milestones and accountability.
The benefit of having a third party, such as myself, help you with this work is:
You get help, structure and accountability around refining and or creating your strategies
You get help to evaluate your ideas and marketing initiatives
I am not emotionally involved with your business
I can see it objectively
I can see you objectively
We can apply what has worked for other clients and for myself, to your business
I can see untapped potential within your business and within you
I can help take what is often complex and overwhelming and simplify it into a series of next steps that tackled one by one results is progress and momentum
My personal strengths and gifts are unlocking hidden potential, creating structure around complex and overwhelming projects and ideas as well as coming up with creative ideas.
In the work of engaging a business accountability strategist you need to be prepared to:
Define what you really want in life and business
Look at where you are now and where you want to be
Look at what has failed and what has worked
Set priorities and put your money, time and effort where your mouth is
Create action steps and milestones
Do the work week after week to get where you say YOU want to go
This is where the control comes in.
What can you control?
All of the above.
What can’t you control?
The outcome.
This is why control is a love hate relationship.
Ideally you want to be able to control the actions and the outcome. But you can only control your actions. Period.
Are you still a success if you take all of the actions and don’t get the outcome you were hoping for?
Yes you are.
So the job of working with a business accountability strategist and coach is to:
Work out the strategy if you don’t already have one
Take the actions as quickly as possible
Test and measure results as you go
Get to your goal as quickly as possible (or not)
Leave no stone unturned in your quest to achieve YOUR goal.
If you achieve it, AWESOME, celebrate and keep going; keep setting new goals and milestones.
If you don’t achieve it, recover quickly, feel proud and move on swiftly to the next thing with no regrets
Each one of my clients are at different stages, some are start-ups and part of the work for them is creating their new identity to step into the vision they have created, as well as creating all of the marketing collateral and assets of the business from scratch. Some are great at what they do, but weak in marketing strategy and putting themselves out there, so the work for them is creating marketing plans that result in clear weekly actions and getting them out of their comfort zone. Some are seasoned in business but value the collaboration and accountability structures that the relationship creates. Some need help as certain measures have not worked or are no longer working and they need fresh input, new ideas and new strategies and action plans.
I run a weekly Free Mini-Mastermind over Zoom and last night one of the participants said it in a nutshell, accountability is everything!
Equally important are the answers to the questions listed above, which create the basis for all strategies and action steps. The answers underpin the strong reason for what your business does, why it does it and what personal outcomes you are seeking.
If you would like to stay in touch I run a weekly Free Mini-Mastermind over Zoom which you can access via joining my FB group called The First And Final Destination For Business Success.
