Personal Brand Marketing Strategies (Not Just For Real Estate Agents).

Personal Branding.jfif

Yesterday I was speaking to a real estate agent who told me her firm do not believe in social media. They focus on strategies such as bill board advertising. They say that they have tracked their sales and they don't come from social media, (my thought was how would you know if your profiles are not optimised).

When I mentioned the benefit of having a personal branded Business Facebook page where at the very least, her happy clients could post reviews, she said they would rather post reviews on the corporate page where they get a lot of traffic. She also told me she uses her personal profile for business, which is great, but has limitations.

Here is my take:

✔️people will see you on a bill board and than will go and find you on social media

✔️the benefit of being on different platforms is that a lot of people have preferences. Some prefer FB and others prefer LinkedIn only. (Her LI profile had no photo, even).

✔️you want to make it easy for people to research you. (How would I know that her testimonials are on the corporate website, I would never think of going there to find her)

✔️when your social media is up to date you can post your current property listings and all activity and results

✔️but if your feed is only full of property listings it gets very boring, hence why you want to mix it up with interesting content related to property including content specific to the suburbs you service and become a valuable area resource

✔️you can repurpose the content in email newsletters, as well as your own personal business FB page

✔️when and if you change company, your personal branded pages (FB business page and Linkedin profile) travel with you

✔️I recommend registering your personal name domain name as well, and having your own website

✔️Original authored articles help you stand out even more and position you way above the rest, as few real estate agents invest in this.

Also the limitations around using your personal Facebook page are:

You can't post reviews on there.

And also according to one of my marketing advisers, Linda Reed-Enever, you need to be very careful about sharing too much business content on a personal profile. It is part of the Terms of Service that profiles are for personal information and connection. (Some big names have lost profiles, groups and pages in the past by adding too much biz content and branded images to personal profiles. https://m.facebook.com/terms.php)

The above information can apply to all personal brand strategies not just real estate agents. And as I have been encouraged and reminded by my now marketing advisers, over the last few weeks, it is a good idea to claim your social media real estate across all platforms, (even Tik Tok, otherwise someone else will).
